New Balance has made a massive resurgence in the last year with their 2002R silhouette emerging as one of the fan favorites, thanks in part to collaborative colorways via thisisneverthat, Joe Freshgoods, and more. Though not exactly the clog-like sneakers introduced by NB recently, the New Balance 2002R gets a Mule makeover in the classic grey color scheme the brand is famous for.
Removing the collar area to provide a slip-on experience, the silhouette also forgoes laces while maintaining the integral premium suede and mesh the 2002R is known for. Down on the mesh toe, a tonal grey takes over while the nearby suede and leather overlays stay within the grey realm. As previously mentioned, the tongue forgoes any laces, instead taking on a perforated suede just below the “New Balance Running” tag in red. Along the midfoot, the stacked midfoot panel houses an N logo with 3M reflective details lining the shape. Underfoot, the Abzorb cushioned midsole is paired with a rubber outsole.
The New Balance 2002R Mule Grey has seen a limited release through retailer HBX, though a wider release through New Balance and select retailers is slated for 2022. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
