After the success of the 2002R Refined Future Pack, unofficially referred to by many as the Protection Pack, New Balance continues to dress models with the same design motif. Recently, we got our first look at a new 1906D colorway coming in all-white, and now a New Balance 2002R Protection Pack with new materials has surfaced.
Although these four colorways retain the usual "wearable relic" aesthetic associated with the Protection Pack, including its jagged edge suede overlays, the major change for this rendition comes with the inclusion of a ripstop nylon base layer and a bungee lacing system. The silhouette is doused primarily in a single hue dependent on the colorway with accenting on the toebox overlays, suede heel panel, and the "N" logo. Further New Balance branding can be found on the tongue, collar, and heel. Rounding out the design is a two-tone midsole paired with a rubber outsole.
The New Balance 2002R Protection Pack Ripstop Collection will release on September 21, 2023 through Concepts online and in-store while a global launch through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store will take place on October 1. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
