New Balance's 550 USA Makes Us Feel Patriotic
From the "Pink Suede" to the "Vintage Indigo," the sneaker community has been blessed with quite a few must-own New Balance 550s in the past couple of weeks, but there's nothing out there for those who are feeling a little patriotic. Well, until now, that is. Aptly nicknamed the New Balance 550 "USA," the Steven Smith-designed silhouette has us standing up with our hands across our hearts, and pledging allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.
Taking on the Boston-based brand's '80s basketball shoe, the "USA" works on top of a crisp "white leather base with perforations across the sidewalls and inlaid "N" logos. Buttery blue suede wraps around the toebox and back, and underfoot, the midsole is accented with hits of red to complete the Star-Spangled Banner-inspired color combination. To round it all off, New Balance's old school logo adorns the heel, and a vintage-style basketball graphic features on the tongue tag for a retro look and feel.
The New Balance 550 USA White will release sometime in 2023 in men's sizes. Set to launch at New Balance and select retailers worldwide, they'll retail for $110.
