This New Balance 650 Gets The Bred Treatment
Updated on •Published
After being revived by Teddy Santis’ Aime Leon Dore in 2020, the New Balance 550 took the world by storm, though this wasn’t the original 80s basketball sneaker that NB released. The 550 was actually a low-top version of the Steven Smith-designed New Balance 650, a sneaker that too arose from the ashes thanks to ALD and eventually began to see GR releases hit the scene. Joining a stacked 2023 release calendar for New Balance, the 650 is getting covered in the iconic “Bred” colorway.
Covered in black leather across most of the upper, the sneaker features accenting red hits with pops of white appearing throughout. Wrapping around the toebox, mudguard, quarter panel, eyestays, collar, and heel are black leather panels with red appearing on the “650” text, New Balance “N” logo, and via the puffy collar portion. Black-on-black appears via the tongue and lace set while the basketball-laden “New Balance 650” tag comes in a combination of black, red, and white. Further accenting hits of red make their mark on the branding details along the collar and heel as well as the rubber portions near the edge of the sole and upper by the heel. Underfoot, the 650 midsole comes with a white finish and is paired with a red rubber outsole.
The New Balance 650 Bred is set to release on January 4th, 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
