Embodying the spirit of precision and craftsmanship, the New Balance 996 has been a mainstay for New Balance since the silhouette debut in 1988. Following the model's revival under the Teddy Santis-led Made in USA banner, the 996 will also receive the Made in Japan treatment.
New Balance's Made in Japan series is known for its meticulous attention to detail and premium materials, translating to an undeniable luxury feel. For this rendition of the 996, the model retains the classic greyscale color scheme New Balance fans love. The upper features grey suede covering the mudguard, midfoot, and heel, while dark grey mesh on the toe box and collar brings a distinct contrast. The silver "N" logo is outlined in white piping, complementing the white leather sockliner and lace set. The metallic gold finish on the “996” branding on the tongue adds a hint of prestige alongside the Made in Japan text. Underfoot, a tri-toned white and grey midsole balances the look, rounded off with a durable black outsole.
The New Balance 996 Made in Japan Grey will release exclusively in Japan on December 1, 2023, through New Balance and select online and in-store retailers. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA. Keep it locked the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
