Classic dad shoes transcended their origins and have become staples in streetwear and fashion. While every brand now has models on that market that fit this bill, New Balance is often regarded as the quintessential label for dad shoes. It has grown in popularity thanks to timely collabs and high-quality silhouettes. Regarding inline releases, the Made in USA seasonal collections, curated by Teddy Santis, have breathed new life into silhouettes like the 998, which has seen a resurgence of release in 2024. For the model’s latest makeover, it gets a classic navy color palette.
Pigskin suede and premium nubuck, mesh, and TPU construct the silhouette, with the primary shade here being NB navy. This look lands on the mudguard and midfoot panel, coming in nubuck, while the mesh toebox and pigskin suede heel overlay continues this hue. Chrome blue accents pop along the N logo on the midfoot, the mesh collar, the sockliner, and the nubuck tongue. The blue shades are grounded by tan and cream colors, the latter on the lace set and retro-branded tongue tag. On the vamp, TPU overlay on the collar, and the nubuck along the heel, we see a tan color applied. Finishing off the look is the cream and navy Abzorb-cushioned midsole paired with a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 998 Made in USA NB Navy Chrome Blue releases on November 28, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $210.
