After feeling frustrated with Jordan Brand, Kawahi Leonard jumped ship to New Balance as their first step to re-entering the basketball scene began. The “Fun Guy” has drawn plenty of buzz through his signature model and its latest iteration, the Kawhi II, as of late with a collab from Goosebumps and multiple GR releases. Now the latest colorway, the “Ocean Blue” draws inspiration from Leonard’s unique mentality and nautical flags.
Designed with Kawhi’s playing style in mind, New Balance’s latest tech helps construct the Kawhi II. Across the upper, Kinetic Stitch underlays come in a two-tone white and orange while overlays of white and blue dress the front and back half respectively. The two-tone white and orange look continues on the laces, working their way up to the nautical flag branded tongue that spells out Kawhi on one foot and Leonard on the other. Back on the heel, hits of orange run down to the New Balance branding placed along the midsole. Rounding everything out is the FuelCell cushioned midsole in white with the two-tone white and orange rubber outsole wrapping up to provide a pop of color.
The New Balance Kawhi II Ocean Blue is set to release on May 13th, 2022 through New Balance and select NB retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the pair will retail for $160.
