As sneakerheads, we’ve seen the rise of the New Balance brand over the last few years as mesh runners and dad shoes have become the “in” style, and the Boston-based label has tapped into newfound energy through collaborators like Joe Freshgoods, Aime Leon Dore, and Salehe Bembury. 2023 was a significant success for the brand as they reported a 23% increase year-over-year to reach $6.5 billion, setting a new record for NB. After an equally impressive 2024, Yahoo Finance has reported that New Balance sales have jumped up 20% compared to 2023 to reach a record $7.8 billion.

The rise in revenue can be attributed to multiple factors. Not only have sneakerheads taken more interest in releases from the brand, like the premium Made In series or its array of casual tech runners like the 1906R and 2002R, but the public and social media have highlighted the brand's affordable kicks. One of these budget-friendly models, the New Balance 530, has exploded across social media and online, with Google Trends showing that 2024 and the early parts of 2025 have been the strongest for the model. Last year, NB reintroduced various strong archival styles that have hit the market, such as the New Balance 1000 and the budget-friendly 530-adjacent New Balance 740.

Looking ahead into 2025, the brand has high hopes for its skateboarding division, New Balance Numeric. In April, Numeric is expected to launch skateboarding legend Andrew Reynolds’ new signature sneaker, the New Balance 933, while the sportstyle side of the label has plans to work with Joe Freshgoods, Aime Leon Dore, and other long-term partners to continue to provide energy to the brand.
