Nigo’s transition from his long-standing relationship with adidas to joining Nike shocked the sneaker and streetwear communities earlier this year. The Japanese designer, best known for founding BAPE and spearheading Human Made, previewed his first Nike collaboration during Paris Fashion Week 2024. This collaboration focuses on an unexpected silhouette—the Nike Air Force 3, a model typically overlooked compared to its more famous predecessors. After first showing the White Multi-Color rendition, new images of a Blue Multi-Color colorway have surfaced.
The Nike Air Force 3 Low Blue Multi-Color merges retro vibes with contemporary flair. The sneaker’s upper is a mix of patent leather and corduroy, creating a unique combination of textures that reflects luxury and street culture. A deep navy base sets the tone for this colorway, serving as the backdrop for bright, contrasting accents. The toebox and midfoot panels feature perforated patent leather, offering a glossy finish that pops. Meanwhile, the corduroy material runs along the collar and heel, adding a touch of vintage appeal.
Vibrant hues take over the rest of the sneaker: pink wraps around the mudguard and heel overlays, green and yellow hit the eyestays, and a bold red Swoosh commands attention on the side panels. Nigo puts his spin on the branding, replacing the traditional Nike Air on the heel tab with NIGO AIR. The sneaker is completed with a white and red Air Force 3 midsole and a dark blue rubber outsole, offering a clean contrast to the multicolored upper. Packaging is co-branded, featuring custom graphics and logos that blend Nigo’s signature style with Nike’s heritage.
The Nigo x Nike Air Force 3 Low Blue Multi-Color will release September 28, 2024 through Human Made and via the two in-person pop-ups in Tokyo and NYC.
