Bruce Kilgore may not have known it at the time, but his design for the Nike Air Force 1 Low is as important now as it was 40 years ago when it saw its initial release. Although it took some time for it to be recognized as it is today, the sneaker is arguably the most iconic footwear offering from The Swoosh, and as such, is getting its flowers during this milestone anniversary. Countless “Anniversary Edition” colorways have been spotted, though the latest is coming in a luxed-out triple black look.
From a distance, it may appear like your standard all-black AF1 Low, but once you take a closer look you’ll notice the premium details befitting of an Anniversary colorway. Faux snakeskin leather takes over the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay, while a pebbled leather effect is found on the Nike Swoosh and heel tab. Your standard leather finds its home on the toebox, midfoot panel, and tongue, though the latter is also home to some updated details. In place of the regular “AF1” branded dubrae, a golden Nike Logo can be found as well as gilded hits on the top eyelets and “Anniversary Edition” text below the debossed AF1 logo atop the tongue. For an extra premium touch, the sockliner gets a satin makeover with golden AF1 text atop the insole. Rounding out the entire design is the iconic AF1 midsole and outsole combo, coming in all-black.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Anniversary Edition Black W is set to release in 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
