The Nike Air Force 1 is a staple within the Bronx community, and as such, only makes sense to honor the area that helped fuel the popularity of the silhouette throughout the years. One section of the Bronx, Little Accra, is a community of Ghanian immigrants who bring African culture to the streets of NYC. The storied AF1 is getting a Ghanian makeover, honoring the community on this “Little Accra” edition.
A regal makeover overtakes the upper of this AF1 with a mix of cream leather on the toebox and midfoot panel, red satin along the mudguard and heel overlay, and finally, a gilded textile that creates an ornate design along the midfoot. More red hits appear on the leather eyestays, housing the gold lace dubrae with inscribed symbols representing Ghanian culture and white flat laces. Atop the burnt orange tongue sits a black tongue tag with “Nike Air” embroidered in a mix of gold and red.
As with the tongue, the Nike Swoosh is covered in a burnt orange that runs back towards the black heel tab. “Little Accra” embroidery on the heel nods to the community itself while the insole messages of “Sharing Stories” and “Building Community” are surrounded by traditional African patterns. Rounding out the look is the white chunky AF1 midsole featuring yellow details on the Air branding set to an off-white rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium Little Accra is set to release on August 12th through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store.
