As one of The Swoosh's most enduring sneaker designs, the Air Force 1 has long been a canvas for imaginative reinterpretations. Joining the long and varied history of the sneaker soon will be the vibrant hues of the world's most recognized puzzle toy, the Rubik's Cube.
Although this iteration of the AF1 Low isn’t officially tied with the puzzle, the upper is covered with a vivid patchwork of colors similar to DJ Clark Kent's "The List" AF1. Red leather, reminiscent of one face of the Rubik's Cube, wraps around the mudguard and is contrasted by crisp white detailing on the toebox, quarter panel, and Swoosh. Bright yellow leather draws attention to the vamp and eyelets, while cool blue shades dominate the tongue and lateral heel overlay. On the medial side, we see orange take over the heel's leather panel. The heel tab dons a striking green, and the Air Force 1 branding on the tongue shares a red finish with the stitching on the Swoosh. A clean white midsole with orange 'AIR' branding on the heel rests atop a contrasting black outsole to complete this playful design.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Rubik's Cube will release on August 1st, 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, retail is set at $130.
