Nike's heritage is deeply rooted in a culture of celebrating milestones and occasions with distinct flair. Over the years, the brand has exhibited unparalleled expertise in commemorating the Chinese New Year with specially-themed sneaker releases. The Air Force 1 Low, a timeless classic, has often been at the forefront of these celebrations. Nike now turns its attention to the upcoming zodiac sign, gearing up for the "Year of the Dragon" in 2024. Alongside the iconic Air Force 1 Low, sneakerheads can expect the Dunk Low, Ja 1, and KD 4 to be part of this festive lineup.
For the Air Force 1 Low in the Year of the Dragon colorway, Nike goes the extra mile in detail and material choice. The upper cleverly combines smooth leather, short-haired suede, and a textured suede closely resembling reptilian scales – a subtle yet impactful nod to the dragon theme. This textured design in a creamy hue graces the Swoosh and heel tab. In contrast, the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay sport a gentle pink, adding depth to the color palette.
A complementary creamy smooth leather envelops the remainder of the shoe, seamlessly flowing onto the tongue and lace set. The lace dubrae, adorned with a pearl design ignited by a silver metallic flame, accentuates the shoe's dragon inspiration. An added "Just Do It" patch is added on the tongue tag, while the heel showcases the familiar Nike Air branding in a clear jade shade, flanked by an additional Nike-branded tag. Concluding the ensemble is the sail midsole, grounded by a dependable rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Year of the Dragon will release January 2024 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
