Nike's Chinese New Year collections have been a staple since 2002, often featuring the iconic Air Force 1 silhouette. As we usher in 2024, Nike continues this tradition with the Air Force 1 Low Year of the Dragon in Sail, part of a broader collection that includes models like the Ja 1, GT Hustle 2, and Dunk Low Remastered. This year, the Air Force 1 Low takes center stage with three unique colorways, one in Sail, another in Soft Pink, and a third pair featuring a jewel Swoosh, each celebrating the Year of the Dragon with distinct thematic touches.
The Sail version of the Air Force 1 Low stands out with its elegant design choices. Unlike its Soft Pink counterpart, which blends suede and leather, the Sail iteration uses suede only on the faux reptile skin Swoosh and heel tab, adding a luxurious touch to the silhouette. The rest of the upper is crafted in smooth leather, bathed in a uniform sail shade that exudes a clean and minimalist aesthetic.
Vapor Green accents line the Swoosh, subtly contrasting the sail hues. Detailing on the lace dubrae includes a Year of the Dragon-inspired charm, adding a festive element to the design. The tongue tag is adorned with a Chinese-themed pattern alongside Nike's "Just Do It" branding, further emphasizing the celebratory nature of the sneaker. Completing the look is a classic white midsole paired with a sail rubber outsole, maintaining the sneaker's sleek and understated appeal.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Year of the Dragon Sail will release on January 1, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. A second drop via SNKRS will follow on February 1st. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $135.
