Each year, footwear brands from across the globe celebrate the Chinese New Year with sneaker releases. Previews of Nike’s plans have already hit the internet, as we’ve seen the Dunk Low, Air Force 1 Low, and two Kobe 5s, one in Red and the other in Eggplant, all honoring the Year of the Snake. Now, mirroring the men’s AF1, a women’s exclusive Air Force 1 Low Year of the Snake has appeared.
While the men’s pair comes in neutral white hues across most of its upper, this one comes in a mixture of sail and team gold for its color palette. Sail leather hits the toebox and midfoot panel, while the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay are tan. Golden accents are located along the mini embroidered Swoosh near the toe, on the snake-inspired lace dubrae, and along the Nike Air branding on the tongue. Split laces take on different colors and materials, as the bottom half comes in a tan rope, and the top comes in white cotton. Nods to the Year of the Snake are on the faux snakeskin tongue tag, the “snake” embroidered in red near the end of the Swoosh, and on the textured heel tab. Included on the sneaker is a knotted rope that comes in the shape of a flower, a common motif found during the Chinese New Year that represents good luck. Underfoot sits a tan rubber midsole paired with a semi-translucent rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Year of the Snake W will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is $135.
