What do these remind you of? Immediately upon seeing these I thought back to the “Cactus Jack” Nike Air Force 1 Low that was released in November 2019. With this upcoming Air Force 1, Nike continues its trend of borrowing from popular, limited, collaborations of the past and using materials, colorways, and silhouettes to bring hype to its more general releases.
Nike has done a great job of repurposing past projects to bring excitement to its latest ones and this Air Force 1 Shroud in “Olive Canvas” is a good example. Nike doesn’t recreate an older collaboration in its entirety but rather takes pieces that previously fit the shoes makeup or artist in collaboration and reutilizes these ideas. Both the lace shroud and olive color scream Travis Scott but that’s where the similarities end; there’s no patchwork, corduroy, or leather.
Instead, an olive suede overlays the heels and mudguard while the quarters and toe boxes are constructed with a durable olive canvas. The lace shroud, reversible, is offered in two colors. One side, an olive suede, is identical to the overlays while the other side reveals an orange canvas similar in color to the insole. The midsole, a crisp white, separates the sneaker from the yellow that adorns the outsole. Finally, we see a rich bordeaux accent the zipper and lining of the shroud, matching the ballistic mesh in the collar lining.
The Nike Air Force 1 Shroud Olive Canvas is set to release in 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizes, retail is TBA.
