While the New England Patriots may not be at the top of the food chain like they once were, the storied NFL franchise and its owner, Robert Kraft, are continuing their AF1 journey with The Swoosh. As a huge fan of the sneaker, Kraft gets his own team version of the Bruce Kilgore-designed model that releases year-in-year-out. This time, the Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit Low is the canvas of choice.
Unlike a traditional AF1, this Flyknit version utilizes just that, Flyknit, as its material of construction across the upper. Even with the switch to this textile material, details like the toebox and quarter panel are mimicked through a knit pattern that breaks up the look while Patriots-inspired colors and details land around the sneaker. Embroidered atop the college navy knit on the “vamp” is a set of six stars, representing the six Super Bowl victories in the franchise's history. Kraft himself gets a few nods with the lace dubrae and tongue tag featuring his initials “RKK” while the Patriots logo is located on the insole and back on the heel tab. Working along the midfoot is an embroidered Nike Swoosh that takes on the secondary colors of the team, red and white, while the mesh lining on the sockliner comes in grey. Finishing the upper are grey suede panels on the top of the tongue and back on the heel. The entire design is finished off through a rubber AF1 midsole and outsole combo that comes primarily in white with navy hits on the toe and heel.
