The NCAA’s introduction of NIL deals for student-athletes has changed the landscape of collegiate sports as talent is now able to earn money off of their own name, image, and likeness. While most schools are indifferent to this, former alumni of the University Of Oregon have created the platform Ducks Of A Feather for student-athletes to earn money from charity events as well as multiple collaborations with Nike. So far, the two have worked on an NFT project that came with a pair of Nike Air Max 1s, however, it seems the work between the two is not done as a Nike Air Huarache with a “Ducks Of A Feather” has just appeared.
Taking on the school colors of Oregon alongside accenting hits of grey, silver, and white, the humble Air Huarache maintains its usually neoprene and leather construction. Leather panels on the mudguard and midfoot take on dark green and bright cactus hit respectively with branding details on the former of the two locations dressed in a vibrant hit of green. Along the tongue sits Oregon’s “O” logo in grey, piercing off the darker-toned neoprene and contrasting the grey lace set. For its TPU overlay near the heel, a semi-translucent grey finish is applied with Nike branding spelled out in Oregon’s bright green hue. On the reverse of the tongue, we see a numbered tag out of 345, meaning the pair will remain ultra-limited. Rounding out the design is the white foam midsole paired with a bright cactus rubber outsole. Special packaging is also a part of this release as a QR code is placed on the inside of the box.
The Nike Air Huarache Ducks Of A Feather is set to release in 2023, likely through a special launch via Ducks Of A Feather. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
