Tinker Hatfield revolutionized the sneaker world by introducing visible Air units in his iconic Nike Air Max 1 design, changing the landscape of footwear technology forever. Originally, Hatfield designed the Air Max 1 with a larger chambered Air unit. However, this initial design faced quality control issues, leading to a recall and subsequent redesign, which resulted in the smaller Air unit seen in the standard Air Max 1 models today. However, for dedicated Air Max enthusiasts, Nike returned to the archives to recreate the original 1986 build of the Air Max 1, reintroducing this historic design with various OG colorways and new renditions. The latest addition to this lineup is the Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG Camo, bringing a fresh and rugged aesthetic to the classic silhouette.
The Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG Camo features a distinctive camo color scheme, switching up the usual sneaker construction. The overlays are crafted from durable canvas panels, all adorned with a woodland camo pattern. This pattern extends to the base, which is made from a thin mesh, offering a glimpse into the sneaker's interior. Adding a vibrant contrast, the Swoosh is highlighted in a volt green hue, matching the updated branding on the heel. The left heel sports retro Nike text embroidered into the upper, while the right heel features a large Swoosh logo. Underfoot, a brown foam midsole houses the larger four-chamber Air unit in the heel, providing enhanced cushioning and support, paired with a black rubber outsole for superior traction.
The Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG Camo will release on May 30, 2024, through Nike SNKRS and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
