The Nike Air Max 1 has long been a staple in the sneaker world, and 2023 saw the reintroduction of Tinker Hatfield's original design featuring a bigger Air unit in the heel. With a slew of golf-ready colorways unveiled and a series of standard '86 versions — including the upcoming "Smokey Mauve Dark Team Red" — a patriotic and golf-ready Air Max 1 '86 OG Obsidian has now made its appearance.
Taking on a clean combo of obsidian, white, and red, the model features typical Air Max 1 materials, including mesh and suede. Obsidian suede adorns the mudguard and Swoosh, while white mesh covers the toe box, tongue, and collar. Creamy white hits are found on the suede vamp and midfoot panel, contrasting with red accents on the Nike-branded tongue tag and TPU eyelets. More red Nike branding is embroidered into the back of the heel. Like the original run of Air Max 1s in the 80s, the size of the sneaker is stamped onto the medial sockliner. Denoting the sneaker’s golf-ready build, the insole features a Nike Golf logo in white. Underfoot, a white midsole with the four-pillar Air unit from the OG Air Max 1 design is paired with an obsidian and red spike-less golf-ready rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG Golf Obsidian will release on July 5th through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
