The Nike Air Max 1 is an enduring symbol in sneaker history, epitomizing Nike's ingenuity and trailblazing spirit. Over the years, the Air Max 1 has evolved in design and form, but the reverence for its OG '86 structure remains undiminished. Recently, with the resurgence of the Air Max 1 in its '86 build, particularly after the grand debut of the OG Sport Red iteration, the spotlight is again on this vintage-like silhouette. In Spring 2024, Nike plans to indulge Air Max heads with another classic, the '86 OG Royal, reserved exclusively for the ladies.
Alongside this pair, a slew of new releases were showcased by Nike on the SNKRS App, including confirmation we’re receiving CO.JP Dunk colorways like the Ultraman and Reverse Curry, as well as news of the Silver Blue Dunk and Foamposite One Royal retro.
The upcoming Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG Royal pays a fitting tribute to its predecessors, replicating the original's authentic color scheme and detailed craftsmanship. The sneaker showcases the enchanting royal blue suede, gracefully adorning the mudguard, eyestays, TPU eyelets, and Nike branding on both the tongue and heel. Contrasting this is the neutral grey suede, tastefully integrated into the vamp, midfoot, and heel overlay regions. The base layer of white mesh harmonizes seamlessly with the laces, tongue, and sock liner, lending a refined balance to the design. Elevating the aesthetic is the classic "Big Bubble" Air Max 1 sole unit in a pristine white, accompanied by a tri-colored rubber outsole in black, royal blue, and white, encapsulating the timeless charm of the OG.
The Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG Royal W will release on March 22, 2024, via Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in extended women's sizing (yes big foot gang, you can take part in this drop), the retail price is set at $150.
