Nike has long championed various communities through its sneaker releases, and to honor Indigenous and Native American ancestry, Nike has its N7 label. Each year, N7’s collection of footwear and apparel is released to help fund donations made by Nike to various organizations that benefit Indigenous and Native American communities throughout North America, with donations totaling almost $10 million since 2009. Following the news that WNBA rookie Alissa Pili signed an endorsement deal with Nike N7, images of the N7's next footwear release have emerged: the Air Max 1 '87.
The Nike Air Max 1 '87 N7 features a harmonious blend of neutral hues accented by vibrant touches of blue and tan, creating a visually striking design. The sneaker's upper showcases a black suede mudguard with intricate stitching details that add depth and craftsmanship. The toebox and tongue are crafted from tan corduroy, providing a textural contrast that enhances the overall aesthetic. The tongue's top and collar are rendered in an icy blue corduroy, adding a pop of color.
Grey suede panels adorn the vamp, midfoot, and heel, while a black Swoosh and ribbon laces offer a sleek, cohesive look. N7 branding is prominently featured on the tongue tag and insole, signifying the sneaker's special place within the N7 collection. The design is completed with a vintage tan foam midsole and a colorful outsole in shades of orange, yellow, and blue, providing a retro yet contemporary feel.
The Nike Air Max 1 '87 N7 will release in June 2024 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
