With the 35th Anniversary of the Nike Air Max going down in 2022, The Swoosh has rightfully brought back some classic colorways, released unique collaborations, and debuted a handful of new silhouettes like the Nike Air Max Scorpion. Bringing us back 35 years to 1987, the year the AM 1 debuted, the Nike Air Max 1 ‘87 brings with it premium vibes on its latest colorway, being dubbed “Ale Brown.”
Sticking to a monochromatic brown across its leather and suede-covered upper, the sneaker features premium details all throughout. Smooth brown leather is placed on the mudguard, quarter panel, heel, and collar, while the toebox features a short-haired suede finish in a similar brown hue. The laces and tongue continue this brown theme while the leather tongue tag up top gets a debossed “Nike Air Max” branding detail, matching the Nike Swoosh found along the midfoot. As for the heel tab, another debossed branding detail comes in the form of the “Nike Air” text, sitting on a lighter brown panel that is placed between two darker brown leather overlays. An even more lux detail is found on the sole unit with the usually exposed foam being covered in leather, similar to a work boot, and features lighter brown stitching details attaching it to the upper. Rounding out the design is a gum rubber outsole.
