2022 marked the Air Max 1's 35th anniversary, and even though the year is about to come to a close, it looks like the birthday celebrations are set to continue well into 2023 with special colorways such as the Nike Air Max 1 '87 Safari "Coconut Milk." Giving the Tinker Hatfield classic a wild makeover, whether you're a hardcore AM1 collector or you're on the hunt for your very first pair, these definitely deserve a spot in your collection.

Sure to be the king of the sneaker jungle, this Air Max 1 works on top of a coconut milk mesh base and is overlaid by leather and suede panels throughout. The sidewalls feature an embroidered tiger stripe pattern, while the mudguards that surround the entire upper have been finished with an exotic safari print. Faux snakeskin wraps around the "Nike Air" branded heel overlay, while the Swoosh has, surprisingly, been left sleek and smooth. For a pop of contrast, the Oregon sportswear giant has added burgundy crush accents across the tongue and eyestays, and the rubber outsole underfoot has been finished off with a speckled effect for an outdoorsy vibe.

The Nike Air Max 1 '87 Safari Coconut Milk is set to release sometime in 2023.
