As showcased by Nike last year during the brand's 50th anniversary, The Swoosh is focusing on the ladies in the sneaker scene as they’ve made a commitment that the “Future 50 [are] For Her.” We’ve seen this through the variety of women designers who have worked on projects under the Nike Inc. umbrella on top of a slew of women’s exclusive releases like the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 ‘87 “Tan Lines.” Continuing to give the ladies colorways on the aforementioned silhouette, Brenden Dunne of Complex has revealed the vinyl toy-inspired “Sofvi” colorway.
Across the upper, you’ll find a combination of leather and TPU, the latter of which is placed on the vamp and midfoot panel. These two panels come in a clear finish and feature a tan gradient effect. White leather on the toebox, collar, and heel contrasts the vibrant red hits found on the sockliner and mudguard. For branding, Nike adds a mini Swoosh on the mudguard and covers the midfoot Swoosh in a metallic silver material. Japanese text and pixelated graphics are found on the insole while more Japanese text is present on the bottom of the left sneaker's outsole. Rounding out the design is the tan foam midsole with exposed air in the heel paired with a clear outsole. All of this comes packaged in a special box that mimics the packaging of a vinyl toy.
The Nike Air Max 1 ‘87 Sofvi W will release August 30, 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
