One of the most iconic sneakers in the entire Air Max family, the Nike Air Max 1 has held its status in the sneaker game since its original release way back in 1987. Celebrating its anniversary in 2022, the silhouette and the line it spawned had a major year full of releases, however, 2023 is continuing this slew of colorways and iterations. Adding to its ever-expanding list of women’s exclusive sneakers, The Swoosh is adding a pom pom hangtag to the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 "Leap High."
Coming dressed in a mixture of leather and suede, the colorway keeps things simple with a white and neutral grey combination while accenting hits of blue, red, and a multi-color outsole provides some pop. Neutral grey takes over the fuzzy suede mudguard, vamp, Swoosh, and heel overlay while a leather overlay in this same hue along the quarter panel acts as the home for a set of white laces. This brighter white shade continues on the tongue and along the leather underlay while the “Nike” branding on the tongue tag gets a royal blue makeover. Our only other hits of color come in the form of a mini Swoosh detail along the mudguard in blue, the TPU eyestays varying color combos, and the pastel dots along the heel overlay. The biggest difference between your standard Air Max 1 and this pair is the included pom pom replacing the plastic aglets on the laces, Chinese writing on the heel (possibly tying into the Year Of The Rabbit), and dot graphics adorning the insole. Rounding out the entire design is the white foam midsole featuring a visible Air unit in the heel paired with a grey, orange, pink, and green rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 1 Leap High W is set to release in 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Releasing in women’s sizing, the retail price is TBA.
