The Air Max 1 is a significant model in Nike's history, credited as the first shoe to feature visible Air units in the midsole. Tinker Hatfield's design has seen countless colorways since its debut in 1987, and the latest seems to be an homage to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The forthcoming Nike Air Max 1 "Steelers" showcases OG Air Max 1 construction, combining suede and mesh materials on the upper for a premium feel. The black suede mudguard boldly contrasts the grey suede vamp, midfoot, and heel. White mesh is integrated into the toe box and collar, while white elements extend to the tongue and laces. Adding a vibrant punch to the overall design are the yellow accents on the TPU eyelet, Nike Air Max tag, and the iconic Swoosh, all highlighting the Pittsburgh Steelers theme. A classic white foam midsole with a yellow Air unit in the heel is paired with a black-and-white outsole to wrap up the design.
The Nike Air Max 1 Steelers will release November 2, 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
