Throughout the Nike archives and lineup of sneakers released to this day, we have countless classic designs that have graced the world. After decades of iterations, sometimes slapping different colors or placing them in different portions gets tiring for both the design team at Nike and consumers. So, why not infuse different models into the design of another? That’s where the “Timeless” series comes in. Taking design elements from one sneaker and throwing them on another, we have already seen the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 and Nike Dunk Low trade places with one another as a part of this pack. Now, on top of the AF1 infusing Air Max 1 elements, the OG Nike Air Force 1 High gets infused into the Nike Air Max 1 “Timeless.”
Constructed out of a combination of leather and mesh, the silhouette mimics the original color scheme of the very first AF1 High from way back in 1982 with its white/grey combo. Various panels of white leather (and added perforations on the toebox and midfoot) mimic those of the AF1 while we also see raw edges applied to each of these panels. Other details that nod to the AF1 High include the nylon lockdown strap located near the tongue and the Swoosh on the midfoot, both of which come in grey. Back on the heel, the Nike Air branding gets stamped in a metallic silver finish and comes in the font found on the 1982 version of the AF1 High while the tongue tag features a faded effect split between AF1 and Air Max 1 branding tags. Rounding out the design is the coconut milk-shaded Air Max 1 midsole featuring exposed Air in the heel paired with a white rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 1 Timeless is set to release in 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
