Back in 2001, all eyes were on Nike as they announced the “Ugly Duckling” Pack. Draped in buttery suede throughout and painted in a range of high-contrast palettes, sneakerheads seriously lusted over these. What made them even more sought-after was the fact that they were only available in Japan, taking hype levels to another dimension. Following a re-release in 2020, it looks like we could finally be getting a spiritual sequel as well, in the form of the Nike Air Max 1 Ugly Duckling Honeydew!
Dropping just in time to celebrate the AM 1’s 35th anniversary, this sneaker is completely covered in suede and pays homage to the Nike Dunk Low “Ceramic” which was part of the OG ‘01 trio. Working on top of a “Black” base, “Anthracite” panels grace the midfoot and lacing system, while “Kumquat” hues make their way to the inner sockliner and mudguards. Of course, just like the aforementioned “Ceramic”, “Honeydew” paints the Nike Swoosh, laces, and rubber outsole underfoot. You’ll also find this lime green tone around the heel where you’ll spot an embroidered duck motif, keeping in line with the collection’s theme.
We can already see the Nike Air Max 1 Duck Honeydew being one of the most iconic sneakers of the year. Set to drop in December 2022 alongside the Nike Air Max 1 Ugly Duckling Pecan, the Honeydew colorway will be available in men’s sizes for $160. Expect to secure a pair at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select retailers both online and in-store, and while you’re here, make sure you follow us on Twitter and download our Mobile app for the hottest releases!
