The women’s exclusive Nike Air Max 90 Futura in a “Sanddrift” colorway has a deconstructed and reconstructed look and is almost unrecognizable as an Air Max 90, if it wasn’t for some notable branding accents and design lines. A sanddrift suede mudguard and toe rand serve as the base of the shoe, with a cut out where the usual Air Max branding would be towards the heel, and a small semi-circle patch of rosy pink textile on the lateral side where the mudguard and toe rand meet. The upper’s main Swoosh branding is a small tan leather overlay, instead of being tucked underneath the mudguard. Tan mesh underlays are the base for the chaotic eyestays, featuring bits of plastic overlaying pink leather on the lateral side of the eyestay, and tan leather on the medial side.
Scraps of pink leather serve as accents to the shoe, including the tongue tag that features debossed “Air Max” and “Swoosh” branding. Soft, rose pink laces complement the inner liner, which extends over the ankle collar. The usual rubber branding badge on the heel is also replaced, but with a tan smooth leather piece in the same shape, featuring “Air” on the right heel and “Swoosh” branding on the left. A white and tan midsole, with the always classic gum outsole, serves as a minimal contrast to the chaos of the upper.
