Sean McDowell created a hit in the '90s when he created the Air Max Plus, taking inspiration from the sunsets and scenery he saw on his Florida vacation. Over 20 years later, the model received an update with the Air Max Plus Drift, a slightly beefed-up version of the sneaker. Nike covers the Air Max Plus Drift in Midnight Navy and Total Orange for its latest colorway.
The Air Max Plus Drift Midnight Navy Total Orange showcases a mesmerizing gradient mesh base that elegantly transitions from blue to deep purple, reminiscent of the dusk skies that inspired McDowell. This model retains the characteristic wavy overlays of the original Air Max Plus but introduces an amplified aesthetic with a bold midnight navy and light blue color scheme. These striking overlays, evocative of palm trees swaying in a coastal breeze, are complemented by vibrant pops of total orange found on the tongue branding and the mini Swoosh adorning the lateral heel.
Beneath the eye-catching upper lies a meticulously crafted midnight navy foam midsole, enhanced with the innovative Tuned Air technology in both the forefoot and heel. This design ensures optimal cushioning and support, making every step a testament to the sneaker's legacy of comfort and performance. The sneaker is completed with a purple outsole incorporating a tri-colored midfoot shank in blue, orange, and purple.
The Nike Air Max Plus Drift Midnight Navy Total Orange will release on April 1, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the sneaker will retail for $185. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app for the latest updates on releases, raffles, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
