Air Max sneakers have maintained their cult-like status for decades, with plenty of models originally released decades ago still receiving major love from the community. A fan favorite (though mostly overseas) is the Nike Air Max Plus, one of the first models to feature Tuned Air technology. For its original colorways, designer Sean McDowell took inspiration from sunsets he witnessed in Florida. However, the latest makeover for the model reworks this gradient-like design into a fire-like “Light Photography” colorway.
Breathable mesh takes over most of the sneaker, with Nike forgoing the usual TPU overlays in favor of a graphic that still includes their design into the upper. For its flame-like graphic, red-to-orange gradients feature smokey whites and greys throughout its design. Black patent leather lands along the mudguard, heel tab, and tongue, matching the sockliner. Hits of white land on the laces and eyestays while branding details like the Swoosh come in a two-tone black/white look. Rounding out the design is the Tuned Air-cushioned midsole which comes in white paired with a black and gradient red-to-orange rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max Plus Red Flames will be released on September 7, 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $175.
