Nike's commitment to the sport of football (or soccer if you're American) has increased tremendously in the last year. The brand signed one of the game's brightest stars, Erling Haaland, and recently secured a deal to supply the German national team from 2027 through 2037 with its kits and accessories. Similar to how Nike recently merged the Air Max Plus with cleats ready for the pitch, as seen on the Zoom Superfly 9 and Zoom Vapor 15, the Air Max Plus is getting a cleat-inspired makeover.
This special edition of the Air Max Plus, dubbed TNPO, showcases a seamless blend of the sneaker's distinctive aesthetics with elements inspired by Nike's rich history in football footwear. The upper adopts a premium leather construction, reminiscent of the classic Nike Tiempo cleats, detailed with stitching that subtly echoes the original TPU wave patterns synonymous with the Air Max Plus. The design introduces a flipped tongue feature, a nod to the heritage of vintage football cleats, further bridging the gap between the pitch and the pavement. The bold, white Swoosh stretches over the midfoot and tongue, offering a stark contrast against the sneaker's sleek, black leather backdrop. Rounding out the design is the blacked-out midsole featuring Tuned Air units paired with a black rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max Plus TNPO Black White W will release in July 2024 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women's sizing, the sneaker will retail for $195.
