It's official: Nike is going all-out with its Chinese New Year collection this year. From the Air Force 1 Low and the Air Huarache Craft all the way to the Dunk Low, the Beaverton brand is pulling out all the stops for the Year of the Rabbit. After checking out the CNY-themed Air Max Scorpion earlier this month, we're now taking our very first look at another rendition, dubbed the Nike Air Max Scorpion "Chinese New Year." Boasting a slightly different palette, it's stuffed with so many cool details that you definitely need to see.
Bearing a striking resemblance to the legendary Air VaporMax, the Air Max Scorpion acts as a spiritual successor of sorts. Spotted here in a crisp white Flyknit upper, a contrast black Swoosh shoots through the lateral and medial side panels with lines around the tail for a speedy look. Floral detailing is finely stitched across the shoe for a Lunar New Year-inspired aesthetic, and fiery varsity red hues make their way to the heel pull tab as a nod to the traditional Chinese color for luck. Shifting your focus underfoot, the full length Max Air midsole has been significantly beefed up. Not only does this fall in line with the chunky sneaker trend that's all the rage these days, it also offers extra comfort and cushioning with every step. The Air Max Scorpion is then finished off with a pair of fluffy laces that mimic a rabbit's fur coat.
The Nike Air Max Scorpion Chinese New Year will release in January 2023 in men's sizes for $250. In terms of where you'll be able to secure a pair, Nike, the SNKRS app, and select retailers worldwide will have these in-stock. As you might have already guessed, more CNY-themed shoes are set to be announced within the coming weeks, so follow us on Twitter and download ourMobile App for all of the updates.
