Scottie Pippen’s shoe of choice during the 90s, the Nike Air More Uptempo, has stayed popular well past its original release, with collaborations and colorways coming to us year in and year out. For its latest release, the Nike Air More Uptempo gets a “Black Royal” makeover.
Utilizing leather across the upper, sans the mesh tongue, the silhouette takes on an almost monochromatic black look. The toebox’s leather overlays come to us in all-black, housing a Nike Swoosh embroidered in dark gray. Going up the tongue, the ghillie-style lacing system sits above mesh and elastic bands, allowing for both breathability and lockdown support.
Along the midfoot, the iconic “AIR” leather overlays come in black, backed by a royal blue leather. On the heel, a translucent jeweled Swoosh sits in the middle of a leather overlay. Underfoot, the Uptempo midsole comes in black, featuring visible Air units running from heel to forefoot. Rounding everything off is the black rubber outsole with hits of grey on the Nike Swoosh logos.
The Nike Air More Uptempo Black Royal is set to release in 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
