The tennis revival in footwear continues. With the sport becoming increasingly popular with today's youth culture, we have seen many brands out there diving into the hype. Nike, Reebok, adidas, and On have all served aces when it comes to being at the forefront of the tennis world. Just this year, Nike dug deep into its archives to resurrect the Mac Attack, a signature sneaker for legend John McEnroe, for the first time since its initial release in 1984. As we look into 2024, the Swoosh is set to bring back another fan-favorite, the Air Tech Challenge 2.
The Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 is widely regarded as Andre Agassi's best signature sneaker. The tennis legend rocked the Tech Challenge series throughout his bad boy era, including his famous head-to-head with Pete Sampras. After a brief hiatus, the Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 returns for Fall 2024 in the original Hot Lava colorway.
Coming in phantom, hot lava, black, flat silver, and pale ivory, this iteration of the Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 Hot Lava switches things up a bit from its previous releases. Instead of a white-based upper, Nike has replaced it with photon dust, providing a slightly darker design and giving off more of an aged look. The hot lava, black, and flat silver accents remain the same. The air-cushioned midsole continues with the aged theme, which comes in pale ivory on this release. The hot lava and flat silver solid rubber outsole are finishing things off for this pair.
The Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 Photon Dust Hot Lava will release August 30, 2024, through Nike SNKRS and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $150.
