When you think of Nike, the first thing that you think of other than the Carolyn Davidson-designed Swoosh is probably the brand’s legendary Air technology. The cushioning unit that was introduced back in the ‘70s at a time when all midsoles were made from solid foam. M. Frank Rudy came along with an innovation that would totally change the fabric of the sneakers. To celebrate him and his legacy, the Beaverton company is dropping the Nike Air VaporMax 2021 "Marion Frank Rudy."
Releasing as part of a much wider collection that includes an Air Max 90 and an Air Max 97, this Air VaporMax features a summit white Flyknit upper that looks like it’s been infused with recycled materials throughout. A deconstructed lacing system ties everything together, while a yellow Swoosh shoots through the lateral and medial sides. This is complemented by a full-length VaporMax unit underfoot, that would never have been possible without Mr. Rudy’s contributions over 50 years ago. To round it all off, the VaporMax comes with a special edition tag that’s inspired by a Californian car license plate.
The Nike Air VaporMax 2021 Marion Frank Rudy Summit White is set to release in Holiday 2022. Expected to be available at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select online and in-store retailers worldwide.
