Designed by Steven Smith, the Nike Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 is remembered for its distinctive aesthetic and performance capabilities. Originally intended to be Japan-exclusive, the silhouette captures the essence of early 2000s design with its futuristic outlook and technical features. After a celebrated retro revival in 2020, thanks partly to a collaboration with Stussy, Nike only released a handful of OG renditions. Now, one is making a comeback with the Metallic Silver returning in 2024.
This Metallic Silver iteration remains true to its original design, featuring a mix of metallic silver leather and wide-spaced mesh that provides breathability and a sleek look. Accents of red enhance the visual appeal, appearing on the Swoosh, tongue tag, and heel, offering a pop of color against the silver and black backdrop. Below sits a white midsole housing a visible Zoom Air unit in the heel, ensuring modern comfort with a retro aesthetic. The outsole combines black, red, and white, maintaining the sneaker's classic appeal while providing durability and traction.
The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 Metallic Silver will release on April 1, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $170.
