If you’re not familiar with the history of Nike, the brand was born out of Blue Ribbon Sports, a distribution company that became a prolific importer and distributor of Onitsuka Tiger, a Japanese brand that made running sneakers. As relationships between Onitsuka Tiger and Blue Ribbon Sports began to deteriorate, Phil Knight began selling his own brand of performance sneakers at track meets, one of the sneakers being the Bill Bowerman designed Nike Cortez. So it’s only right that Nike’s mother company Blue Ribbon Sports sees its namesake on a Nike SB model that takes cues from the Nike Cortez itself.
The Nike BRSB is a blend of new world tech with OG design language. The all-black colored upper of this particular colorway features black hairy suede on the anterior of the sneaker, with the familiar strip of suede in the middle of the toe box to commemorate its Nike Cortez heritage. A black, toothy suede runs along with the eyelets for the eyestay, as the black mesh tongue features Nike SB branding on the tongue tag. The white leather Swoosh on the upper sinks into the midsole, as the rest of the upper features a sturdy textile that’s well-padded through the ankle and heel of the shoe. The white leather heel tab has “Nike” and “SB” in the classic script font on the left and right shoe, respectively, overtop an outline of the Swoosh logo.
The Nike BRSB Black White is set to release in 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select Nike SB retailers worldwide, in-store and online for a retail price of $85. Keep it locked to our Twitter andMobile App to stay up to date on future releases.
