The vintage aesthetic has been a major trend in fashion for the last few years and Nike has capitalized on this big time with the introduction of aged silhouettes and colorways. Examples include the infamous “Lost & Found” AJ 1 High and the upcoming Nike Dunk Low Vintage “Team Red,” however, we’re seeing even more vintage vibes through the Nike Dunk High Classic which has just appeared in an ultra-wearable “Grey Black.”
Taking on a tumbled leather upper, the design stays relatively simple with its grey and black combination, however, select details give off the appearance of the sneaker being aged and/or previously worn. These shine through on the faded black Swoosh that looks to be losing paint and returning to a grey look while the tongue features a vintage-like Nike design. For the rest of the sneaker, we see black leather overlays around the mudguard, eyestays, and heel accent the grey details on the toebox, quarter panel, and collar. Going back to the tongue tag you’ll notice that “50 years of Hip Hop” is embroidered into the design, possibly marking this sneaker as a part of a wider collection of pairs that celebrate the anniversary of the music genre. Underfoot, a sail midsole, and a black rubber outsole complete the look.
The Nike Dunk High Classic Grey Black is set to release in 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
