Nike is looking to continue its retro releases of classic Dunk Low colorways in 2024. Following news of the "Brazil" and "Plum" renditions, both originally released as part of the CO.JP (Concept Japan) series, Brendan Dunne of Complex reports that Nike is also reviving the Nike Dunk Low "Ultraman."
Originally released exclusively in Japan in 1999, the Ultraman edition of the Dunk Low garnered its nickname due to the iconic Japanese superhero franchise dating back to the 1960s. One of the main heroes in the franchise sports a red and grey suit, and this Dunk mimics that perfectly. This iteration of the sneaker maintains the true spirit of the original model, a quality that sets it apart from its 2011 vintage-style rendition. Grey leather overlays on the mudguard, eyestays, and heel contrast the red hues of the underlays. The Swoosh logo and heel tab adorn the same grey as the other overlays. The tongue is wrapped in vibrant red, creating a captivating contrast with the grey lace set. Finalizing the look is a crisp white midsole and a grey outsole, staying true to the original design.
The Nike Dunk Low Ultraman will release Summer on May 3rd, 2024, as part of Nike's Cult Classic Series. It will be aviliable via SNKRS and select retailers online and in-store for $135.
