Nike’s answer to the popularity of silhouettes like the adidas Samba and Gazelle was to dig into its archives and revive a forgotten model from the ‘80s — the Nike Field General. Initially worn by gridiron legends, including Archie Manning, the model has now transitioned into the lifestyle space, with its color schemes reflecting this change. Its latest makeover comes in a vibrant Elemental Pink Obsidian combo.
Across the upper, we see a mixture of canvas, mesh, and smooth leather, most of which comes coated in the titular pink hue. This color rings true for the leather mudguard, eyestays, heel overlay, canvas toebox, and midfoot. The pink hue extends onto the lace set, tongue, and sockliner. Contrasting this are hits of obsidian, landing on the Nike branding along the tongue tag, the midfoot’s Swoosh, and the heel tab. Below sits a gum rubber midsole with a matching rubber outsole containing a waffle-inspired traction pattern.
The Nike Field General 82 Elemental Pink Obsidian releases in Holiday 2024 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
