The Nike Hyperdunk 2017 Low EP Year of the Dragon Releases Spring 2024
PublishedNike's Hyperdunk series, known for its innovation and performance, has long been a staple on basketball courts worldwide. The series gained iconic status with memorable moments like Kobe Bryant's legendary "jump" over an Aston Martin in the OG Hyperdunk. While Nike's focus has shifted to the Greater Than series for performance basketball, the brand is revisiting its roots with a retro of the Hyperdunk 2017 Low. One of the first colorways to hit the shelves will be a Year of the Dragon edition, a nod to the rich heritage and ongoing influence of Chinese culture in the sneaker world.
The Nike Hyperdunk 2017 Low EP Year of the Dragon retains the silhouette's original engineered mesh upper, providing breathability and lightweight support. The sneaker features a predominantly white color scheme, with striking blue hues on the TPU Swoosh along the midfoot. This clean look is further enhanced with a white suede panel on the heel, branded with Nike's logo for a touch of elegance. The tongue boasts a vibrant red Just Do It-branded tag adorned with a dragon scale design, resonating with the Year of the Dragon theme.
This red hue is mirrored in the sockliner, creating a cohesive and visually appealing design. The insole also carries a Chinese New Year-themed Nike and Swoosh logo, similar to those on the GT Hustle 2, Air Force 1 Low, and Dunk Low Remastered. The design is completed with a white foam midsole and a matching outsole, providing comfort and performance on and off the court.
The Nike Hyperdunk 2017 Low EP Year of the Dragon has already hit shelves in Asia, though a wider release is possible sometime this Spring through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130. Stay tuned to the Sole Retriever mobile app for the latest updates on this release and more from the sneaker and streetwear world.
