Quick Facts

  • Nike and Hyperice are releasing a $900 recovery shoe
  • The Hyperice x Nike Hyperboot will release on May 17, 2025
  • The boot aids both recovery and "pre-covery" through heat and compression
  • A wider global release will take place later in the year

Last summer, Nike officially unveiled its first collaborative recovery products with Hyperice, showcasing a wearable compression boot and vest. While it was assumed that these would remain exclusive to select Nike athletes, seeing as around 100 different athletes utilized these products during the 2024 Olympics, we now have confirmation that the Hyperice x Nike Hyperboot will be hitting shelves next month.

Built to serve elite competitors and everyday athletes alike, the Hyperboot features a combination of Normatec dynamic air-compression massage and HyperHeat technology, all packed into a high-top silhouette that can be worn on the move. Insights from various Nike athletes, including Olympic runner Sha’Carri Richardson and Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, helped Nike and Hyperice refine the recovery — and “pre-covery” — process.

“Athlete insight is at the center of everything we do, and while we’ve long known that recovery is an important part of any athlete’s journey, we’re hearing from athletes that the concept of ‘pre-covery’ is equally as important,” says Tobie Hatfield, Senior Director, Nike Athlete Innovation. “The Hyperboot helps get the body ready for activity, whether you’re playing for a title or you’re on your feet a lot at work.”

When it comes down to it, the Hyperboot helps warm up the body before a workout and speeds up recovery afterward. The latter is achieved through two overlapping air bladders per shoe, which allow users to experience a rhythmic compression massage thanks to Hyperice’s Normatec system. Meanwhile, embedded heating elements distribute consistent warmth across the upper, driving heat deep into the ankle and foot to loosen tight muscles.

Athletes can swap between three heat levels (ranging from 111°F to 125°F) and three compression levels (50 mmHg to 210 mmHg), depending on their needs. Each shoe is powered by a discreet battery located in the insole and features a “heel clip” housing the device’s compressor and electronics. A built-in dial lacing system and adjustable bladders allow for a tailored fit and secure lockdown. At the same time, the Bluetooth-enabled shoes pair with the Hyperice mobile app for even more personalized control.

“The Hyperboot represents everything I look for in my preparation: cutting-edge technology that delivers real results,” says Nike and Hyperice athlete Jayden Daniels. “I’m meticulous about incorporating the latest innovations into my training, and the way this device combines precise heat and compression technology has taken my warm-up to new heights. The most important ability to have as an athlete is availability, and the Hyperboot is an integral part of my routine. It’s the first piece of tech I reach for before hitting the field — a true game-changer in how I prepare my body to compete.”

Nike invited Sole Retriever to an exclusive launch event for the Hyperboot in New York City, giving us the chance to test the product firsthand. Right away, the compression felt identical to Hyperice’s Normatec leg system — powerful, rhythmic, and incredibly effective. The heat element is no joke either — it gets hot, and fast — which, when combined with the compression, delivers a recovery experience that’s nothing short of elite. Surprisingly lightweight, the boots are comfortable to walk around in thanks to the subtle rocker shape, and we noticed an immediate lightness in our legs after taking them off — definitely had that “ahhh” moment after taking them off — the same kind of relief you feel after a really good deep tissue massage. The attention to detail is undeniable, and while the $900 price tag may raise eyebrows, this isn’t some flashy gadget — it’s a serious, tech-forward recovery tool built for performance.
