Nike has dug into the archives and revived a controversial silhouette, the Nike LD-1000. Originally recalled during its initial run in the ‘70s due to the design causing injury to runners, 2024 marked its return to the market with collabs from Stussy and multiple inline colorways. The LD-1000 comes in a University Gold Safety Orange color palette for its latest inline makeover.
Utilizing the same construction as the OG, the sneaker comes with a mesh base alongside suede and leather overlays. On the base sits a university gold hue, matching the shades of the suede panels on the toe, eyestays, vamp, and heel. Safety orange, one of Nike’s classic colors, appears along the leather Swoosh, heel tab, and on the Swoosh embroidered into the woven tongue label. Accenting these shades are white hits on the lace set, tongue, and sockliner. Underfoot sits a white foam midsole paired with a black rubber outsole containing a waffle traction pattern.
The Nike LD-1000 University Gold Safety Orange will release on October 11, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
