Even with a boatload of sneakers releasing year-in-year-out, the ones that end up on the cutting room floor are some of the most elusive pairs and give insight into the ideas being thrown around at various footwear brands. For Nike, their skateboarding division has long been heralded as one of its most creative endeavors and the countless samples that have popped up over the years prove this to be true. Looking back at a Nike SB Dunk Low sample from 2015, the pair looks almost identical to the recently released Air Jordan 11 “Cherry.”
This sample takes on a two-tone white and cherry red color scheme and even follows the exact material makeup of the aforementioned AJ 11s as its base layer comes in a Cordura mesh while the overlays take on a patent leather finish. Cherry red covers the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlays while the toebox, quarter panel, tongue, and collar come in a white Cordura mesh. Fat white laces run up to the cherry red and white “Nike SB” tongue tag while the insole and sockliner both come in a cherry red shade. A white patent leather Nike Swoosh rounds out the upper while the midsole and outsole come in white and a semi-translucent icy blue respectively.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Cherry Sample, unfortunately, dates back over 7 years ago and likely will not see a retail release.
