Nike's history is deeply rooted in the sport of running. Even today, we see The Swoosh bring forth new iterations of their classic running silhouettes, one of which has been on shelves for nearly 40 years — the Nike Pegasus. The latest iteration, the Zoom Pegasus 40, has emerged in a colorway celebrating the Chicago Marathon.
There's no better way to pay homage to the Windy City than with a pair of sneakers designed explicitly for its world-famous marathon. The iteration celebrates the Chicago Marathon with a city emblem on the lateral heel and the marathon's logo on the insole. But it's not just about the looks; the shoe also packs plenty of performance features. It flaunts a redesigned midfoot band that adapts to any foot size, while the mesh upper ensures optimal breathability. Comfort has been ramped up with extra foam near the collar and new internal linings. As for cushioning, Nike React technology works with two Air Zoom units, ensuring a seamless heel-to-toe transition. The sneaker’s upper mixes aqua green and blue, contrasted by red accents on the Swoosh, Nike branding, and sockliner. Blue eyestay trim and a mint-and-white midsole further enrich the visual palette, rounded off by a mint and aqua-green rubber outsole.
The Nike Zoom Pegasus 40 Chicago Marathon will release September 21, 2023, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
