Sneaker collaborations experienced a seismic shift when Virgil Abloh entered the scene. His partnership with Nike set the bar high, resulting in some of the most sought-after sneakers in recent memory. With the passing of Virgil in 2021, the fashion world and the culture were in shock, though his posthumous releases have remained steady. This will likely continue as Virgil’s wife, Shannon Abloh, told The New York Times that over a year’s worth of Off-White x Nike products are still in the pipeline. One of these designs is the collaborative Air Force 1 Mid, which has continued to emerge in various makeups, such as the Sheed and a recently unveiled pair with Grim Reaper designs.
This Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid Grim Reaper contains a pristine white leather foundation that contrasts beautifully with its lime green accents, seen on the lace set and the signature tab that drapes over the Swoosh. But the real showstopper here is the array of black accents prominently displayed on the secondary lace set, tongue lining, sockliner, and the canvas elements adorning the heel. This color continues with Grim Reaper graffiti designs, reminiscent of the embroidered design on the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid Varsity Maize.
Signature Off-White elements punctuate the design, like the recognizable plastic hangtag and Helvetica text (which sports a fresh font twist for this sample). Everything comes complete with a blacked-out midsole containing a visible Air unit in the heel and a wavy design paired with a partially spiked rubber outsole.
The Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid Grim Reaper is set to release on November 30, 2023, exclusively via Off-White's online webstore. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $205.
