Nike’s Air Max Plus silhouette holds a special place in the hearts of sneakerheads, particularly in Europe, where it has achieved cult status. Known for its distinctive design and bold colorways, the Air Max Plus continues to capture the imagination of sneakerheads. In 2024, Nike teams up with European retailer One Block Down to deliver a fresh collaboration featuring two classic colorways.
The One Block Down x Nike Air Max Plus Pack introduces three standout colorways: Chutney, Light Photo Blue, and Matte Silver. The latter of the three colorways will be exclusive to One Block Down. All three iterations maintain the iconic gradient pattern of the Air Max Plus, with a mesh base transitioning from a deep hue to a crisp white near the heel. The TPU overlays, inspired by Florida’s palm trees, are rendered in white, adding a touch of elegance to the design. One Block Down’s branding is prominently displayed on the toebox, seamlessly integrating with the shoe’s aesthetic.
The Chutney colorway features a dark blue mini Swoosh on the midfoot, while the Light Photo Blue version sports a lighter blue Swoosh, adding subtle yet distinct touches to each pair. Additional One Block Down logos can be found on the tongue tag and the insole, ensuring the collaboration’s identity is well-represented. The sneakers sit atop a black Air Max Plus midsole, paired with a black and orange outsole for a striking contrast.
Following these early looks, photos of the third One Block Down-exclusive pair emerged. This Matte Silver variant follows a similar color design as the other two pairs with a gradient upper accented by hits of blue on the Swoosh and branding details.
Guiding the color choices for this collection comes from the concept of "Reverse," which sees original 1998 Air Max Plus colorways inverted and reversed across all three pairs. All of the details on the shoe, including the sole unit, come reverse and inverted, with the Chutney pair, dubbed Cold Sun, inspired by the Hyper Blue rendition. The Light Photo Blue pair, called Dry Water, is an inversion of the original Tiger pair, and the final Matte Silver colorway, Clear Fog, is a representation of the Pimento colorway.
The One Block Down x Nike Air Max Plus Pack will release September 27, 2024, through One Block Down. A Nike SNKRS release will take place on October 5 for the Light Photo Blue and Chutney pairs. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $180.
