Fusing two sports often not associated with one another, adidas partners with Boston’s famed skate store Orchard and Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution. Echoing a similar strategy when Austin's No Comply and Austin FC joined hands for the adidas Copa Premier, this release combines the fervor of soccer and the edginess of skateboarding. The adidas Samba ADV, a soccer-inspired sneaker with skate features, gets a refreshing makeover in the signature colors of the New England Revolution: night indigo, red, and white.
Taking a closer look, this iteration of the Samba ADV boasts soft night indigo suede panels across the toebox, eyestays, and the iconic Three Stripes. Contrasting this, a leather base of the same shade adds depth. "Revolution" and "Orchard" replace the standard Samba inscriptions on alternate sides. Both adidas and Orchard share the spotlight on the insoles, while the heel tabs showcase split branding in vibrant red. Moreover, the tongue tags present the Revolution's crest and adidas logo distinctively on each shoe. Below sits a semi-translucent night indigo midsole that lends a contemporary edge to the design.
Diving into sustainability, the Samba is a vegan-friendly marvel crafted from synthetic suede and leather. A co-branded soccer jersey joins the mix, complementing the footwear. This jersey stands out with Orchard's imprint across the front and flanked by the logos of New England Revolution and adidas. It's made from 100% recycled polyester and boasts tonal navy Three Stripes with hints of red like the sneaker.
The creative genesis of this kit stemmed from a shared story between Orchard and The Revchars. Its design hints are inspired by Paul Revere’s iconic Midnight Ride and the onset of the Revolutionary War, a fitting tribute given Orchard’s proximity to Paul Revere’s house.
To mark this exciting launch, Orchard will host a skate jam at Reggie Wong courts on September 1st from 3-6 PM. The celebrations continue with a mini ramp jam outside Gillette Stadium on September 2 from 5-7 p.m., leading to the Revs match against Austin FC. Both events are open to all and are free to attend.
The Orchard x New England Revolution x adidas Samba ADV will release on September 1, 2023, at Noon EST through Orchard, while adidas and select retailers online and in-store will release the pair on September 2. The jersey will launch in limited quantities via Orchard, the New England Revolution, adidas and the MLS website. Available in men’s sizing, the sneakers' retail price is $110, while the jersey retails for $70.
